Schultz Pass Road is closed, and will be for two weeks to motorized vehicles while crews work to move slash piles from the Schultz Creek trailhead to the staging area at Schultz Pass. Coconino National Forest officials say while Schultz Pass Road will remain open to non-motorized use, several eleven-foot-wide articulating dump trucks will be operating in the area. Hikers and bikers are asked to use caution while in the area, and to entirely avoid Schultz Pass Road if possible. The slash hauling operations are part of the Midway project, which is part of the longer ongoing Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project.
