A Salt Lake City woman died after falling nearly 20 feet at the Grand Canyon Monday. At around 6:30 p.m. the Grand Canyon National Park received a call about a woman on a river trip who was unresponsive near Ledges Camp along the Colorado River. A DPS helicopter was sent and arrived on the scene at around 8:30 p.m. Soon after arriving, the woman was pronounced dead. She has been identified as 34-year-old Margaret Osswald, who was on day six of her multi-day private boating trip. Authorities say Osswald was near camp when she fell and suffered fatal injuries. Members of the group noticed she was unresponsive and began CPR, which was unsuccessful. No further information is available and an investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
