Route 66 To Close In Downtown Flagstaff Next Thursday

Drivers who use Route 66 daily through downtown Flagstaff daily will have to take a detour soon. ADOT plans to close the historic route in front of Flagstaff City Hall from 9 p.m. Thursday June 10th to 6 a.m. Friday, June 18th. The closure will run from Humphreys Street to the Sitgreaves Street and Santa Fe Avenue intersection. The reason is so workers can replace the Rio de Flag Bridge. To get around the area, drivers heading north on Milton Avenue will be detoured onto Butler Avenue to San Francisco Street. Drivers heading south, or through the downtown area, will turn left on Route 66 and use Beaver Street to head south to Butler and then make a right to connect to Milton Road.
