Drivers who use Route 66 daily through downtown Flagstaff will have to take a detour until next Friday. ADOT has closed the historic highway in front of Flagstaff City Hall until 6 a.m. Friday, June 18th. The closure runs from Humphreys Street to the Sitgreaves Street and the Santa Fe Avenue intersection. To get around the area, drivers heading north on Milton Avenue will be detoured onto Butler Avenue to San Francisco Street. Drivers heading south, or through the downtown area, will turn left on Route 66 and use Beaver Street to head south to Butler and then make a right to connect to Milton Road. After the closure, several more weeks of lane restrictions will be needed so crews can finish building the outside lanes of the road. For more information, log onto azdot.gov/riodeflagbridge.
