Prescribed Burns Planned On The Coconino And Kaibab National Forests This Week

Prescribed burns are continuing in the Coconino and Kaibab national forests. Fire managers on the Kaibab National Forest will start burning on the Three Sisters project Wednesday north of Williams, near Kaibab Lake. The burn was supposed to start Monday, but high winds pushed the timeline back a day. Crews will burn just over 22-hundred acres and it should take 3-4 days to complete. Smoke will be visible in Williams and surrounding areas. Crews on the Coconino National Forest will also finish up burns on the Wild Bill and Maxwell Springs projects north of Flagstaff Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, Flagstaff Fire crews will burn 123-acres Tuesday on Observatory Mesa west of Flagstaff. Smoke will be seen from Flagstaff and surrounding areas.
