A 26-year-old Prescott woman was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle accident near the Skull Valley Cemetery. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the accident on Iron Springs Road at around 10 p.m. When they arrived they found a woman that was ejected from a black 2007 Toyota Tacoma she was driving. Officials say while driving, she crossed the center line, struck a guard rail and rolled several times. It appears she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Shannon Smith from Prescott. It is not known if alcohol was a factor, but there were no signs of alcohol or drugs at the scene. However, Sheriff’s officials say they received an attempt to locate message from Prescott Police at around 9:30 p.m. involving a black Toyota Tacoma driving erratic. Smith’s body was taken to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s office. The accident is under investigation.
