A Prescott woman has been arrested after her children were found with bruises and burns, but it’s what she allegedly told DPS state troopers that might be the most disturbing. According to DPS police reports, troopers pulled over a car near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix back on March 15th on a routine traffic stop. The driver, 34-year-old Samantha Jo Jones, was also found to be driving on a suspended license. Her kids, ages two and four, were not wearing seat belts at the time, their diapers were urine soaked and they were both covered in Crayola marker. The report says during questioning, Jones allegedly tried to tell the trooper that she “just wanted the children to have their meth.” According to the report, when the trooper changed the four-year-old’s diaper, he noticed several bruises. When the two-year-old’s diaper was changed, they noticed severe burns. Upon a search of the car, troopers found meth hidden in a sunglass case. The Department of Child Safety took the children to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for examination. Jones has been charged with drug possession and child abuse.
