Preparation Begins For Fall Timberline Prescribed Burn Project

Coconino National Forest fire managers will begin preparing this summer for the upcoming Timberline prescribed burn project. It will take place adjacent to the Timberline community northeast of Flagstaff during mid-October and mid-November. Residents can expect to see dozers and personnel working in the forest. The project will treat 1,730 acres by removing forest fuels in certain areas. The goal of the project is to help mitigate and protect Timberline-Fernwood and surrounding communities from extreme future wildfires. In the fall, fire managers will burn on days that are favorable for a safe and effective burn.
