The Point in Time Count was supposed to take place on January 26th, throughout Flagstaff, this year, but it has been pushed back. City officials say due to the current COVID-19 surge, the count will take place from Febrauary 23rd to the 25th. The count documents the number of homeless people in the city at a single point in time. The data is collected across the country, and is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Information from the surveys can help raise awareness about the challenges of homelessness in the community. City of Flagstaff and Coconino County trained employees, social service agencies, and volunteers will team up with mobile crews to locate people experiencing homelessness, as well as booths to conduct surveys at libraries and other locations. People experiencing homelessness who completes a survey will also qualify for five-dollars in Better Bucks, a hygiene kit or a snack pack. For more information or to volunteer, contact the City of Flagstaff.
