Phase Two Of Construction On The Schultz Creek Watershed Rehabilitation Project To Begin This Week

Phase Two of construction on the Schultz Creek Watershed Rehabilitation Project will begin this week. The next, and final, phase of the project will restore about four miles of upper Schultz Creek after the Pipeline Fire and subsequent flooding, damaged nine watersheds, including Schultz Creek. Phase One was completed in July. That phase included a series of “plug and spread” areas designed to distribute post-wildfire sediment and debris across the valley of lower Schultz Creek before it could impact stormwater infrastructure downstream. Phase Two will endeavor to stem the source of this sediment by slowing erosion through a series of channel stabilization measures. Phase Two will be conducted by Tiffany Construction, which worked on Phase One and the flood mitigation project in Wuptaki Trails and others. Phase Two should take around two months to complete.
