A fatal accident closed down westbound Interstate-40 Thursday night about eleven miles east of Flagstaff. DPS says around 9:49 p.m. a passenger on a motorcycle was involved in a single-vehicle collision and was thrown into the left lane of I-40. A short time later, another vehicle, reportedly a semi-truck, didn’t see the person in the lane and drove over the victim. The motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi thought they ran over a deceased animal at the time, but later reported the incident after reviewing the truck’s dash cam. Westbound I-40 was reopened early Friday morning.
