There is new information into the death of a man Tuesday in Lower Chevlon Canyon in Navajo County. Joseph City fire officials say two people were found by Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies at around 5:30 p.m. near the bridge. One person was in the water, south of the bridge, and the other was found halfway up the canyon wall in a large crevice. Investigators say four people from Leupp, Arizona were at the bridge when the 34-year-old make decided to jump into the creek from the bridge. Two men, ages 28 and 32-years old, attempted to climb down to assist their friend when they fell down and got stuck. The 32-year-old was injured and later died. A DPS helicopter air lifted the 28-year-old out of the canyon and was life-flighted to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. The 34-year-old was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and a 55-year-old wasn’t injured. The case is under investigation.
