Cottonwood Police officers responded to a fatal single vehicle collision on the 17-hundred block of South State Route 260 Monday morning. Officers arrived on the scene at around 6:30 a.m. to find a vehicle that had left the roadway and collided with many guard rails and a large pile of asphalt. Authorities say the driver is believed to have had a medical event, which caused the accident. The driver of the vehicle was taken to Verde Valley Medical Center where they were pronounced dead. The accident is still under investigation and the identity of the deceased person hasn’t been released pending next of kin notifications.
