We have seen near record wind over the last couple of months in Northern Arizona. The National Weather Service says many cities and towns are close to all-time records. From April 1st through May 31st, the average mean wind speed for Flagstaff is 10.6 miles-per-hour, which would ranked second for the windiest season in Flagstaff since 1999. The windiest being 2011 where the average was 12.1 miles per hour. Prescott’s average mean wind speed is 9.32 miles per hour making it the fourth windiest season. Winslow and the Grand Canyon are seeing their second windiest seasons with mean wind speeds just over 11 miles-per-hour. We will see breezy to gusty days through the weekend and into next week around Northern Arizona, but nothing like the Red Flag days we’ve seen this season.
