Crews are getting a handle on the Gunsights Fire, which burned 120 acres and is about 12 miles northwest of Chino Valley. State forestry officials say the fire started by a lightning strike Thursday. Night time operations continued building a direct handline and reinforcing retardant drops. Crews are continuing that today and will begin mop up duties. Three other fires are burning in the Prescott National Forest. The Grief, Yellow and Tiger fires were all started by lightning strikes Thursday.
