A Navajo County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a human trafficking incident recently during a traffic stop in Winslow. Officials say the deputy conducted the stop on Interstate-40 back on September 8th and after an investigation, it was learned that 35-yaer-old Julio Ramirez-Felipe of Greenfield, California was traveling with a juvenile boy, who was not related or known to him. During the traffic stop, the deputy utilized their training and was able to determine that the child was in danger and was being trafficked. The deputy secured the juvenile while Ramirez-Felipe was transported to NCSO Jail. He is currently being held on an immigration detainer. The deputy is a member of NCSO’s Criminal Interdiction Unit and received training on recognizing and detecting signs of human trafficking.
