A routine traffic stop turned into quite a drug seizure in Winslow Tuesday. A Navajo County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 40 at milepost 257, when he then noticed indicators of possible criminal activity. The deputy then released his K-9 “Kilo,” to perform an air sniff of the vehicle. Kilo alerted the deputy so a full search was conducted. The officer found almost five pounds of heroin, 12 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder, and over 12 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills, totaling over one-point-three-million dollars. Arrested were 33-year-old Aurelio Orozco Munoz and 32-year-old Jeuz Abdiel Avilez Teran, both from California. They were booked into the Navajo County Jail in Holbrook on charges of transportation of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, and possession of a narcotic drug.
