Idaho’s Trevante Anderson missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as NAU beat the Vandals 74-72 in the Skydome in a crazy game Monday night. The game went back and forth for most of the game, however an odd turn of events late in the game almost cost the Lumberjacks a win. With 1:49 to go, NAU led 66-63. After a missed Carson Towt free throw a technical foul was called on both NAU assistant coach Chris Fowler and head coach Shane Burcar, as well as a personal foul was called on Keith Heyman. Idaho’s Mikey Dixon hit five straight free-throws to give the Vandals a 68-66 lead. NAU played great defense and hit shots down the stretch to get the win. Jalen Cone and Nik Mains each scored 24 points and Carson Towt had 14 rebounds in the win. NAU improves to 2-2 in the conference, while Idaho falls to 0-6. NAU will play Montana State Thursday night in the Skydome. Tip time is at 6 p.m.
