The NAU Lumberjacks battled the tenth-ranked Illinois State Redbirds, but fell short Saturday 40-27 on the road in Normal, Illinois. Senior quarterback Case Cookus was 32-of-56 for 357 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. Joe Logan had 138 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns and freshman wide receiver Hendrix Johnson had his second-straight 100 yard game with nine catches for 122 yards. NAU allowed 534 yards to the Redbirds, including 419 yards trough the air. The Jacks are back on the road next week, this time to open up the Big Sky Conference season in Bozeman, Montana against the 14th-ranked Montana State Bobcats. Kickoff is set for noon Saturday.
