The NAU Lumberjacks were stopped on fourth and one in overtime as the Northern Colorado Bears beat the Jacks, 17-10, in Greeley, Colorado Saturday. The game went back and forth throughout the game. The Bears struck first on a field goal in the early second quarter. NAU answered back with 36-seconds left in the first half with a 17-yard touchdown run from George Robinson to make it 7-3 at the half. The Bears retook the lead in the third quarter off an eight-yard touchdown pass from Dylan McCaffrey to Dylan Thomas. The Bears led 10-7 going into the fourth. Luis Aguilar, who missed two field goals in the game, hit a 21 yarder to tie the game at ten. The field goal came after a big pass play from R.J. Martinez to Hendrix Johnson that put the Jacks at the two-yard-line, but they couldn’t get the touchdown and settled for the field goal. In overtime, the Bears got a touchdown as McCaffrey found Jaren Mitchell for the 15 yard score. NAU couldn’t get the first down in overtime to fall 17-10. The loss is NAU’s fourth straight loss at Northern Colorado. NAU quarterback R.J. Martinez was 21-of-37 for 208 yards. Hendrix Johnson had three catches for 71 yards and Draycen Hall had 14 carries for 81 yards in the loss. The Jacks will be back home Saturday in the Skydome to take on the Idaho State Bengals, who are 0-3 on the season. Kickoff is at 1 p.m., with the pregame show starting at noon on KAFF Country 93.5/930 in Flagstaff and Fun Oldies 97.9 in Prescott.
