NAU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams both rallied from double-digit deficits, but fell just short against the Montana State Bobcats Saturday. The men tied the game at 70 with 28-seconds to play when Xavier Bishop was fouled after making the shot. Bishop missed the free throw, then Jalen Cone brought the ball down court and got it stripped away by Bishop as the Bobcats beat NAU, 72-70. Keith Haymon led the Lumberjacks with 17 points and Cone finished with 15. Bishop led the Bobcats with 23 points. The Jacks will be back on the court Thursday in Portland as they take on the Portland State Vikings. The NAU women were outscored 23-9 in the second quarter as Montana State beat the Jacks 83-77 in the Skydome. Lauren Orndoff led the Jacks with 24 points and Nine Radford added 16 in the loss. The Jacks will host the Portland State Vikings in the Skydome Thursday night.
