The NAU Lumberjacks fell in their season opener in Tempe last night, 40-3, against the Arizona State Sun Devils. R.J. Martinez scrambled most of the night, completing 18-of-28 passes for 92 yards and two interceptions in the loss. Draycen Hall led the Jacks in rushing with 14 yards. Former Wyoming running back Xazavian Valladay led the Sun Devils on the ground with 116 yards and two touchdowns in the win. ASU outgained NAU 413 yards to 115 for the Jacks. ASU had 266 yards on the ground for just 23 for NAU. The Jacks will shake off the loss and get ready for a tough road trip next week to Sam Houston. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m.
