The NAU Lumberjacks men’s basketball team played its first home game of the regular season Saturday afternoon and picked up a win against the Pacific Tigers. The Jacks used a 16-2 run in the final 9:44 of the first half to take a 14 point lead at halftime and never looked back, beating the Tigers 78-58. Trent McLaughlin led the Jacks with a career-high 28 points, including 5-6 from three point range. Carson Basham added 16 points and nine rebounds and Diego Campisano had a season-high 14 points in the win for NAU. Before Saturday’s game, the Lumberjacks went coast-to-coast and then some in their first seven games of the season. The road trip stretched from Connecticut to Hawaii. The game also marked the 1,000th NAU game broadcast by the “Voice of the Lumberjacks” Mitch Strohman. NAU will head to Texas for a two game swing this week. They will take on Abilene Christian Wednesday night. Tip time is 6 p.m.
