The NAU Lumberjacks offense got out to slow start, but their defense kept in the game long enough to beat the Northern Colorado Bears Saturday, 41-23, on Family Weekend in the Skydome. Senior quarterback Case Cookus was 19-for-32 for 406 yards and five touchdowns in the Lumberjacks win. NAU also had two receivers with over 150 yards receiving in the game. Stacy Chuckwumezie had seven catches for 156 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Porter has seven catches for 152 yards a two touchdowns in the win. NAU had 537 yards of total offense after just 184 yards in the first half. The Jacks have been decimated with injuries and attrition on the defense, playing many freshman and sophomores against the Bears. The Lumberjacks have a bye next week and will head to Ogden, Utah to take on the Weber State Wildcats, Saturday October 19th at 1 p.m.
