Residents of Munds Park were stunned recently when their post office was closed without warning. The closure left residents wondering where they could get their mail and for some, their early voting materials. The problem lies as a private contractor ran the office and the contract was terminated. Rod Spurgeon with the U.S. Postal Service says operations were temporarily suspended on July 1st. He says all mail can be picked up at a mobile unit at the Flagstaff Post Office. There is good news however for the people who live in Munds Park. Spurgeon says “we anticipate the reopening of the Munds Park Post Office next week and will resume operations at that time.” He went on to say “the Postal Service is committed to Munds Park and we look forward to continuing to serve the community’s mailing needs.”
