Friends, athletes and members of the community gathered in the NAU Skydome parking lot Thursday night to remember former NAU offensive lineman Malik Noshi. Those gathered lit candles, told stories and shared hugs and prayers in remembrance of “Big Mal.” The 22-year-old Las Vegas native was found unresponsive at his residence at around noon on Sunday. Authorities say he was pronounced dead a short time later. Noshi was a starter on the offensive line for the Lumberjacks and was named a Big Sky Conference honorable mention last season. Speakers at the vigil included head coach Chris Ball, quarterback Case Cookus and many players and staff. Flagstaff Police say the cause of death is pending, but there was no visible evidence of foul play found at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
