More Record Temperatures Set Thursday Around Northern Arizona

New record high temperatures were set for the third straight day in Northern Arizona as a summer heat wave continued Thursday. The National Weather Service says there were five new records and three cities that tied a record. Flagstaff is one of the cities that tied the record for June 17th with 92 degrees, that was set in 1940. The Prescott Airport set a new record of 101 degrees. The previous record of 99 was set in 1959. Other areas that set new records include Seligman with 105, Winslow with 107, Clarkdale with 113 and Springerville with 94. Payson tied a record with 100 and Phantom Ranch tied its record for June 17th with 115 degrees. Forecasters say the heat wave will gradually subside over the weekend, returning to normal temperatures next week.
