More Information Is Known Regarding Last Thursday’s Fatal Shooting In Doney Park

More information is known about a fatal shooting last Thursday night in Doney Park, east of Flagstaff. Coconino County Sheriff’s detectives say there was a small get together at a North Bryant residence at around 11:30 p.m.. An argument ensued between two of the people at the home. One of the people was asked to leave the property and complied with the request. That person then went to his home next door and later returned with a handgun. He then entered the front door of the home and shot one person inside. Two other people fled to a bedroom to try and escape the shooter. The suspect went into the bedroom and a struggle for the gun took place. During the struggle, the suspect David Navela, was fatally shot and another person took the weapon away. The initial person who was shot was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center and was treated and released later that evening. The investigation is ongoing.
