Monday marked seven years since Flagstaff Police officer Tyler Stewart was fatally shot in the La Plaza Vieja neighborhood. Stewart was investigating a domestic violence call when he was shot and killed. Soon after the shooting, the suspect turned the gun on himself. Stewart was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center, where he died from his injuries on December 27th, 2014. The incident took place in the 800-block of Clay Avenue, where a memorial for Stewart stands. On Monday, a group of law enforcement from around Flagstaff gathered at the memorial for a brief service. Stewart was the second-ever Flagstaff police officer to be killed in the line of duty. Stewart was 24-years-old and was only on the force for a few months before he was killed.
