The man who was arrested after holding law enforcement officials at bay for more than six hours in Williams recently has a criminal past in Prescott Valley. Twenty-nine-year-old Matthew Solan barricaded himself in his truck, with a handgun last week in the Safeway parking lot in Williams, and finally surrendered after he shot himself in the leg. Back in January of last year, Solan was arrested in Prescott Valley after he smashed out the windows of a 1968 Crown Bus at a Maverick store on Glassford Hill Road. Solan started hitting the bus owned by 39-year-old Nathan Harris and then ran into the Walmart across the street. In that incident, Solan was booked on a count of aggravated assault and on a warrant out of Oklahoma for assaulting a police officer there. Solan faces multiple charges from last week’s incident in Williams.
