A man who drove a van through the Flagstaff Mall last month is facing 22 charges related to the incident. Flagstaff Police say 26-year-old Ramon Muniz stole a FedEx vehicle from a gas station in Winslow and ended up driving through the Mall’s main entrance at around 10 a.m. He then tried to break into the Dillard’s store, before leaving the mall through a service hallway. Police say he committed multiple other felonies, including thefts, vehicle thefts, burglaries and an attempted residential burglary in the Mobile Haven area. Mall damage is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars. The crime spree reportedly began in Winslow and made its way to Flagstaff. Court records show the majority of the charges range from third-degree burglary, endangerment and theft of transportation. After the mall incident, Muniz also reportedly attempted to steal items from a nearby Flagstaff Fire station and RV store before making his way into Mobile Haven. He allegedly tried to steal a truck and stole a bank card from the fire station. Muniz was later arrested in Mountain Meadows and was indicted by a Coconino County grand jury last week. It’s not the first time Muniz has been in trouble with the law. He has had previous legal issues in Show Low, Snowflake and Pinetop-Lakeside regarding charges of disorderly conduct, DUI and failing to appear for court dates.
