Man Arrested In Crown King For Impersonating A Federal Agent And Making Threats

A man is arrested in Crown King after impersonating a federal agent and making threats against community members. Earlier this month, Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies received reports from residents of Crown King regarding concern over social media posts involving 30-year-old Aaron Wells. He claimed to be an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, while threatening those he claimed were spreading rumors about him. He posted under the moniker, “ATF Nick.” Some of the comments posted by Wells include “Notice to public of crown king – if anyone keeps rumors going around or any threats they will be held accountable for their actions,” which was followed by a specific list naming residents. A resident told deputies that he recently had contact with Wells, where Wells told him he was an undercover agent and showed him a rifle. Wells was arrested at his home last Friday. He was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges of impersonating a peace officer, as well as two felony warrants out of New Mexico. He is being held without bond.
