A man transporting drugs from Phoenix to New Mexico was arrested last week in Cordes Lakes. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over 46-year-old Heriberto Ordonez, also known as Juan Loya Loya, for an equipment violation after turning east on Arcosanti Road off of Interstate-17 last Thursday. As the deputy talked with Ordonez, he became more nervous. When asked to search the 2003 Dodge Ram, Ordonez agreed. Deputies found two packages under the truck, over the transmission. When they were removed, it contained a pound of meth. Ordonez told deputies he was being paid to transport certain property, but wasn’t told what it was, or where it was on the truck. He was arrested on drug charges and was placed on an immigration hold. Ordonez told deputies he had been deported on prior occasions. He is being held at the Camp Verde Detention Center on ten-thousand dollars bond.
