Legendary Former Holbrook High School Wrestling Coach Pat Kenny Passes Away

Legendary Holbrook High School wrestling coach Pat Kenny passed away earlier this week. Kenny died Monday after battling Alzheimer’s disease over the last few years. Coach Kenny was known as an intense motivator and was famous for telling his wrestlers: “if you can’t work a move, practice it 1,000 times until you get it right!” and “tough wrestlers train when others are sleeping.” While coaching the Roadrunners, his teams won 189 dual meets with only 22 losses. Under Kenny, Holbrook won three state titles and six runner-up trophies and 19 of his wrestlers were state champions, seven of which won two titles. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame back in 2015, making four men from Holbrook who have received that honor. Kenny was 81-years-old.
