Last Week’s Winter Storm Causes A Surge At The Pumps

Gas prices continue to soar off the heels of the recent winter storm that gripped the midwest and south. Triple-A Arizona says the average price of gas is $2.88 a gallon in the state, which is 22-cents higher than last week. Triple-A spokesman Aldo Vazquez says “with the forced shutdown of the Gulf Coast and some Midwest refineries due to last week’s winter weather, gasoline stocks have tightened and gas prices have skyrocketed.” He adds, “prices are likely to be volatile until crude production is back to normal levels and motorists can expect these more expensive gas prices to stick around but large spikes are likely to subside. In Flagstaff gas is up 14-cents a gallon from last week to $2.82 a gallon on average. Some stations are selling gas for $2.79 and lower. In Prescott, prices at the pump are up almost 15-cents a gallon from last week to $2.82 a gallon on average. Some stations are selling gas for $2.69 and lower in Prescott.
