Prescribed burning operations will resume on the Kaibab National Forest Wednesday. Burning resumes on the Marteen Project, where around three-thousand acres still needs to be treated. Fire managers hope to complete the project in two days. The area is located five miles northwest of Spring Valley and east of Red Hill. When the burn is underway, smoke will be visible from Highway 180, State Route 64 near Howard Mesa, Valle, Red Lakes and Spring Valley. Smoke may settle on scene and to the south of Valle overnight. A mixture of moisture and sunny weather make for perfect weather to continue the project.
