There has been an increase of gastrointestinal illness cases reported from Havasupai. The Havasupai Tribe and the Indian Health Service are increasing cleaning procedures in public places, consistently testing water quality, and tracking new cases. Gastrointestinal illness is a virus caused when good hand-washing hygiene is not practiced and people come into close contact with each other. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The best way to avoid contracting this illness is to wash hands properly, practice food safety, and properly dispose of trash.
