The Grand Canyon National Park will close the east entrance of the South Rim at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say the park is expected to receive up to a foot of snow from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening and for safety reasons will close the east entrance west of Cameron. Visitors can still access the park via the south entrance station near Tusayan. Visitors are encouraged to check road conditions before traveling to the Grand Canyon in the coming days. The North Rim is closed for the winter and will reopen May 15th.
