The Flagstaff Unified School District’s Governing Board will discuss mask mandates at Tuesday’s meeting. On the meeting agenda, the recommended action will be to “encourage, but not require, individuals to wear face masks on school property.” However, that would go into play, “if both cases and percent positivity indicators fall within the low or moderate thresholds as reported weekly on the Coconino County Schools Report.” As of last Friday, cases decreased from 654 per 100-thousand to 289 per 100-thousand, which is still in the high category. In order to get to moderate, cases must be no higher than 49 per 100-thousand. Percent positivity went from 17.1-percent to 11.1-percent last week. To get to moderate, percent positivity must be no higher than 7.9-percent. They will also discuss and take possible action regarding COVID-19 mitigation strategies, so it’s possible the board could decide on changes anyway. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.
