Fourteen People Apply For Vacant Flagstaff City Council Seat, Six Move Forward To Interviews

Fourteen people applied to fill the Flagstaff City Council seat left by former Vice Mayor Becky Daggett, who had to resign from the council in order to run for mayor. The 14 candidates include former city council members, Al White, John McCullough, Charlie Odegaard and Eva Putzova. Other candidates are Jackie Kellogg, Alethea Karlin, Chris Verrill, James Willis, Joe Washington, Josh Stackhouse, Khara House, Lina Wallen, McKenzie Jones and Samantha Stone. Each candidate provided a five-minute introduction presentation to Council Monday. Moving on to the interview process are White, Karlin, Washington, House, Jones and Stone. The application period closed last Wednesday. A decision could be made on a new councilmember next week.
