Former Prescott Valley Mayor Harvey Skoog Has Passed Away

The man who served Prescott Valley for 26 years, 14 as mayor, has passed away. Former Mayor Harvey Skoog and his wife moved to Prescott Valley in 1982. He was first appointed to the town council in 1984. Skoog served as mayor from March of 1993 to January of 1998. He won a recall election in 2004 and was re-elected three times more, serving 14 consecutive years as mayor. Skoog and his wife Edna have nine kids, 59 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. He died at his home Wednesday at the age of 81. Next Thursday, the public is invited to line Skoog Boulevard at around 12:15 p.m. as a procession travels around the Civic Center, and then join the procession as it travels to Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery for a public graveside service at 1 p.m. Then the next day, there will be a public Celebration of Life for Mayor Skoog at 10 a.m. Friday, October 1st at the Findlay Toyota Center. Everyone is invited to honor his life and his contributions to Prescott Valley.
