Former Flagstaff High School Soccer Coach Holly Jones Cleared Of Wrongdoing By The State Board Of Education

Former Flagstaff High School girls soccer coach Holly Jones has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Arizona State Board of Education. Jones was fired by the Flagstaff Unified School District over the summer after a district investigation into allegations of bullying, insubordination and unprofessional conduct in regardless to a fellow district employee. Jones received a letter from the Board saying they had conducted their own investigation and that there won’t be a complaint filed in the matter. We reached out to the state Board of Education, in which they responded with “no comment.” Jones was the girl’s varsity soccer coach at Flagstaff High School and a physical education teacher at Sinagua Middle School before she was let go. During the district’s governing board meeting discussing the situation back in August, Jones received many positive comments from parents, former players and others. One came from now former Yavapai College men’s soccer coach Andre Luciano. Jones was an assistant coach under Luciano when he coached the Lumberjacks, and she went into the NAU Hall of Fame as a player in 2007. She is now coaching for the Flagstaff Soccer Club, which is home to many of the current members of the Flagstaff Eagles. She remains out of teaching and hopes to return to coach and teach as she is still trying to find full-time work. Jones was the AIA Small School Girls Soccer Coach of the Year in 2020 after the Eagles won the 4A state championship, which was her third state title as coach at Flag High.
