Prescott Police arrested the former executive director of the Prescott Downtown Partnership for fraudulent activity totaling over $200-thousand in losses. The arrest of Misti Smith comes after a long investigation that started in October of 2021, when the Prescott Downtown Partnership reported being the victim of fraud, right after Smith’s resignation. Through the course of the investigation, detectives found numerous instances of fraud, forgery and theft that had taken place since Smith started to work with the partnership in April of 2020. Smith is a 43-year resident of Prescott Valley. She has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple charges of fraudulent schemes, forgery, theft and taking the identity of another.
