Forest Area Closure And Traffic Delays Expected For Wilbur Fire Maintenance

Crews are continuing to manage a lightning-caused wildfire, eight-and-a-half miles west of Clints Well. Since the wildfire began on May 21, it has been intentionally led by forest services fire managers to burn certain areas of the Coconino National Forest. There has been minimal growth of the Wilbur Fire, and now fire crews will begin working on hazardous tree operations in collaboration with ADOT. Traffic delays can be expected Thursday along the highway. Additionally, a forest closure will likely be put in place Thursday. Coconino National Forest officials ask visitors to travel with caution on nearby roadways as fire crews will be operating on them. Light smoke can be expected in the area throughout the week in areas around Verde Valley and Lake Mary Road.
