Flagstaff Stormwater Crews To Start Dredging The Rio De Flag Downtown Wednesday

City of Flagstaff stormwater crews will begin dredging work Wednesday in the Rio de Flag channel between Aspen Avenue and Birch Avenue. Dredging removes overgrown vegetation and excess sediment, allowing for greater capacity of flows as the City enters monsoon season. The City’s Stormwater Section actively maintains nearly 25 miles of major urban stream and wash channels as well as 112 natural streams, minor ditches, swales, and small washes. The work will necessitate the closure of six to eight parking spots in the northwest corner of the Downtown Library parking lot. Work should be completed by Friday.
