Cottonwood Police have arrested a Flagstaff man on drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate-17 Friday afternoon as they continue to be a part of drug interdiction patrols in the Verde Valley. Officials say 38-year-old Christopher Perez was pulled over in his 2015 Kia Optima for speeding at around 3:19 p.m. on I-17 and State Route 260. During the stop, the officer deployed K9 “Kratos” who was able to find a stash of over three-quarters of a pound of powder cocaine and just over an ounce and half of marijuana, along with $600 in cash. The street value of the cocaine is estimated to be $30-thousand dollars. Perez was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on drug possession, money laundering and other drug charges. He remains in jail on a $150-thousand dollar case bond.
