Flagstaff Man Catches Huge Catfish At Upper Lake Mary

A Flagstaff gas station worker has a fish story for the ages. Arizona Game and Fish officials says on Friday, March 29th, a man named Daniel was fishing Upper Lake Mary south of Flagstaff. He was sleeping in the backseat of his SUV, when the bells on his fishing rod began to sound at around 8 a.m. Officials say he jumped out of the vehicle and ten minutes later hauled in a monster channel catfish. He didn’t weigh or measure the fish, but game officials say by the picture he took, it was close to a state record. The current record is held by Carson Pete, who caught a record fish in Upper Lake Mary in 2017. That fish weighed over 33 pounds and measured nearly 40 inches. Daniel used a 30 pound braided line, a steel leader and a treble hook with an anchovy on it and used patience to catch the fish.
