Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Flagstaff man in connection with a shooting in Bellemont last week. Deputies were called to the parking lot shared by the Roadhouse and Harley Davidson just after ten p.m. last Thursday on a report of a man pointing a gun at another person. When they arrived a vehicle sped off from the parking lot. Deputies were able to catch up to, and detain the man. The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Estevan Leyva from Flagstaff. Investigators say before deputies arrived, Leyva’s wife attempted to diffuse the situation and was struck by Estevan. Investigators found multiple empty shell casings and large amounts of blood in the parking lot. When Estevan was being taken into custody he resisted arrest and once he was placed in the cage portion of the sheriff’s vehicle, the cage was damaged. Leyva has been charged with domestic violence disorderly conduct with a weapon, domestic violence disorderly conduct and criminal damage, with additional charges pending. If anyone has information into the incident, contact the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 774-4523 or 1-800-338-7888.
