Flagstaff law enforcement officials located and arrested a kidnapping suspect from Scottsdale Wednesday night, who had a six-month-old infant with him at the time. Flagstaff Police, along with members of METRO Narcotics task force and special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Flagstaff field office, responded to the Huntington Walmart at around 11:45 p.m. The call came from Scottsdale Police that a kidnapping suspect was in the store parking lot. Scottsdale Police say the suspect had kidnapped the baby and the child was in danger, because the man would flee with the child in his vehicle if he saw police. Officers observed the man telling the victim on video chat that he drove from Scottsdale to Flagstaff with the baby on his lap. He also made comments to the victim, that if she didn’t come meet with him the he would hurt her by hurting the child. Officers were able to confront the suspect and take him into custody and rescue the infant. There were no injuries. The man was identified as 19-year-old Carlos Umberto Guardado Orellano. He was taken back to Scottsdale where he was charged with kidnapping, endangerment and custodial interference. The baby was given back to the victim by Flagstaff Police unharmed.
