The Flagstaff Eagles girls basketball team battled one of the best teams in the state, at any level, the Pinnacle Pioneers in the second round of the open bracket Thursday night in Phoenix. The Eagles went back and forth with the Pioneers and took them to overtime. Pinnacle outscored Flagstaff 10-8 in the extra period, with the Eagles having the ball at the end, but they couldn’t get a shot off as Flagstaff fell 58-56. All is not lost though. They will now compete for their second straight 4A title. That road begins at home next Thursday. The Coconino girls basketball season came to an end with a 62-45 loss to Prescott. The Badgers now go in to the 4A state playoffs. Coconino’s season comes to an end.
